Should we work together?

This program is not for everyone. To be honest, it is difficult. Changing your lifestyle, habits, beliefs, and mindset is a journey that is not for everyone. But the life that you want is within reach and worth the effort. I love coaching my clients, and the healing we find together over this journey will be worth the investment. If you are ready to heal, you can do this!

Hi I'm Erin!

I’ve been a Licensed Nurse Practitioner for 12 years (+6 as an RN prior) and am currently licensed and practicing in 10 states. Over the past almost 2 decades I have watched the uncanny reality that most people are living under the false impression that this busy, tired, anxious, painful and sometimes sick reality that we find ourselves in is somehow the status quo and norm.

To contemplate that wholeness and wellness in our bodies and minds is within reach seems far fetched and almost an alternate reality or dream. However, I believe that healing is within reach, and the life that you long for; the one in which you wake up each morning rested, with energy to conquer the day and the attitude to enjoy it -that your body feels and functions at its optimal state and you are able to walk in health in every sense of the word. I am amazed at the majesty of our bodies and what they can do when given the right environment to thrive.

I believe in healthCARE. My clients will embark on a wellness journey and together we uncover the root cause of the symptoms, the lifestyle habits that have lead to these symptoms, and the practical steps to take in order to reverse these symptoms and meet their health goals. Our customized care plan, weekly check-ins and daily tracking, combined with your own story, allows us to uniquely tailor your journey to healing.

“There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they are falling in.”

Naturally & Completey

initial intake

This comprehensive 2-hour initial intake session is designed to delve deeply into your health concerns, medical history, and wellness goals. During this visit, we will thoroughly explore your current health status, symptoms, lifestyle patterns and identify potential areas for improvement through the functional medicine lens.
I will take the time to listen to your unique health journey, ask the questions necessary to gain the full picture of you - as a person - not as a collection of symptoms. I will develop a “next steps plan”, answer any initial questions and provide an overview of guidance for the journey. By the end of the session, you will gain a clearer understanding of how functional medicine/root cause resolution can benefit you and the potential next steps in your wellness journey.

Discovery Call

If you're ready to take control of your health journey, I invite you to schedule a complimentary 15-minute discovery call with me. During this call, we can discuss your health goals and current symptoms, and explore how and if functional medicine is the correct approach for you.
To book your free call, please reach out to schedule a time that works for you. I look forward to the opportunity to connect with you and support you on your journey to wholeness.

Labs, Assessment, & Testing

When it comes to evaluating and understanding overall health, a comprehensive approach is essential. Lab evaluation is not automatic for every patient, much can be learned through symptom history, story intake, health assessment and mapping. However, further biomarkers and lab testing may be necessary and/or recommended in order to arrive at definitive root causes and next steps for each patient. This will be thoroughly discussed with each unique client and together we will make this decision.

Follow up Visit

Our program includes follow up visits uniquely designed to your allotted time, choice of plan and physical needs. During these visits we have the opportunity to closely monitor your progress and address any questions or concerns that may arise as transition begins to happen. These regular check-ins allow us to provide personalized support and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan as we work towards achieving your health goals. This is the secret sauce. Consistent follow up and editing/tweaking of our plan until we find lasting results and true resolution of the root cause.

Educational resources

Included in each plan is a vast supply of educational resources that will be your tools/secret sauce to not just momentary change, but lasting resolution. These resources will come in the form of conversation with Erin, explanation of pathophysiology, lab results, disease processes, contributing mechanisms, etc. Multiple printed forms of education will also be provided as appropriate per the client’s situation/symptoms and necessity. Lifestyle changes are key, but also require some “unlearning/relearning” of current habits. This is key to each plan and essential to lasting resolution.

common client symptoms

  • Fatigue is a common symptom that can result from a variety of interconnected factors, and functional medicine seeks to explore these interconnections to promote optimal health.

In functional medicine, the root cause of fatigue is often considered to be a result of imbalances within the body's systems. These imbalances may arise from multiple factors, including:

Nutritional deficiencies: A lack of essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and amino acids can impact energy production and overall metabolic function.

Hormonal imbalances: Dysregulation of hormones, such as thyroid hormones, adrenal hormones (cortisol), and sex hormones, can contribute to fatigue.

Gut health: The health of the gastrointestinal system is crucial for nutrient absorption and energy production. Imbalances in the gut microbiome, inflammation, or intestinal permeability can negatively affect overall well-being.

Chronic inflammation: Persistent inflammation in the body can lead to fatigue. Identifying and addressing the sources of inflammation, such as poor diet, chronic infections, or autoimmune conditions, is essential.

Stress and adrenal function: Chronic stress can impact the adrenal glands, leading to imbalances in cortisol levels and contributing to fatigue. Assessing and managing stressors is a key aspect of functional medicine.

Sleep disturbances: Poor sleep quality or insufficient sleep can significantly contribute to fatigue. Identifying and addressing factors affecting sleep is crucial in addressing the root cause.

By addressing the root cause of fatigue through the principles of functional medicine, individuals can experience sustainable improvements in energy levels and overall well-being, promoting long-term health and vitality.

  • Chronic pain is a complex condition that often results from a combination of interconnected factors, and functional medicine seeks to uncover these connections to promote effective and lasting relief.

In functional medicine, the root cause of chronic pain is often considered to be a result of imbalances within the body's systems. Some key factors include:

Inflammation: Chronic inflammation is a common contributor to persistent pain. Identifying the sources of inflammation, such as diet, environmental toxins, infections, or autoimmune conditions, is crucial in addressing the root cause.

Nutritional imbalances: Deficiencies in essential nutrients, imbalances in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, or poor diet can contribute to inflammation and compromise the body's ability to manage pain.

Gut health: The health of the gastrointestinal system is linked to overall well-being, and imbalances in the gut microbiome or increased intestinal permeability can contribute to systemic inflammation and chronic pain.

Hormonal dysregulation: Hormones play a significant role in pain perception. Imbalances in hormones such as cortisol, estrogen, and testosterone can influence pain sensitivity and the body's ability to manage pain effectively.

Genetic factors: Individual genetic variations can affect pain perception and response to treatment. Understanding these genetic factors allows for personalized interventions to address the specific needs of each patient.

Neurotransmitter imbalances: Disruptions in neurotransmitter function, such as serotonin and dopamine, can impact the perception of pain. Identifying and correcting these imbalances is a key aspect of functional medicine.

Structural issues: Assessing musculoskeletal and biomechanical factors, such as joint dysfunction, muscle imbalances, or postural issues, is essential in understanding the physical aspects of chronic pain.

  • Hormones act as messengers in the body, regulating various physiological processes, and disruptions in their balance can lead to a range of symptoms and health issues. Functional medicine seeks to identify and address the underlying factors contributing to hormone imbalances, rather than merely treating the symptoms.

Common contributors to hormone imbalances in functional medicine include:

Nutrient deficiencies: Inadequate intake of essential nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals, can affect the body's ability to produce and regulate hormones.

Gut health: The health of the gastrointestinal system plays a crucial role in hormone balance. Imbalances in the gut microbiome, intestinal permeability, and inflammation can impact hormone production and metabolism.

Chronic stress: Prolonged stress can disrupt the balance of hormones like cortisol and affect the overall endocrine system. Chronic stress may lead to adrenal fatigue and imbalances in sex hormones.

Thyroid dysfunction: The thyroid gland produces hormones that regulate metabolism, energy production, and overall cellular function. Dysfunction in the thyroid can result in imbalances in hormones such as T3 and T4.

Blood sugar imbalances: Fluctuations in blood sugar levels, often related to diet and lifestyle, can impact insulin production and sensitivity, leading to imbalances in hormones like insulin and glucagon.

Environmental toxins: Exposure to environmental toxins, such as endocrine-disrupting chemicals, can interfere with hormone production and signaling.

Inflammatory conditions: Chronic inflammation in the body can disrupt the normal regulation of hormones and contribute to imbalances.

The goal of functional medicine in addressing hormone imbalances is to restore balance to the endocrine system, improve overall health, and alleviate symptoms.

  • In functional medicine, anxiety is viewed as a symptom that may be linked to imbalances within the body and mind. The goal is to identify and address these underlying factors to promote long-term relief and optimal well-being.

Several key factors that functional medicine considers when exploring the root causes of anxiety include:

Neurotransmitter Imbalances: Neurotransmitters, such as serotonin, dopamine, and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), play a crucial role in regulating mood and anxiety. Imbalances in these neurotransmitters can contribute to heightened anxiety levels.

Hormonal Imbalances: Fluctuations in hormones, particularly cortisol (the stress hormone) and sex hormones, can influence mood and contribute to anxiety. Identifying and addressing these hormonal imbalances is essential in functional medicine.

Gut-Brain Axis Dysfunction: The connection between the gut and the brain, known as the gut-brain axis, is increasingly recognized in functional medicine. Imbalances in the gut microbiome, inflammation, or intestinal permeability can impact mental health and contribute to anxiety.

Nutrient Deficiencies: Inadequate levels of certain nutrients, such as omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins, and magnesium, can affect brain function and contribute to anxiety. Functional medicine assesses nutritional status and recommends personalized supplementation when necessary.

Inflammation: Chronic inflammation in the body has been linked to various mental health issues, including anxiety. Identifying and addressing sources of inflammation, such as a poor diet or chronic infections, is a fundamental aspect of functional medicine.

Environmental Factors: Exposure to environmental toxins, pollutants, and allergens can contribute to anxiety. Functional medicine considers the impact of environmental factors on an individual's health and works to reduce or eliminate potential triggers.

Lifestyle Factors: Stress, lack of sleep, poor dietary choices, and sedentary lifestyles can all contribute to anxiety. Functional medicine emphasizes lifestyle modifications to promote overall well-being and mental health.

  • Rather than focusing solely on calorie counting or traditional weight loss methods, functional medicine delves into the underlying imbalances that may contribute to difficulties in maintaining a healthy weight.

Several factors may be considered in a functional medicine approach to addressing weight struggles:

Metabolic Dysfunction: Imbalances in metabolic pathways, including insulin resistance, can impact the body's ability to regulate blood sugar and store or utilize energy efficiently.

Hormonal Imbalances: Disruptions in hormone levels, such as thyroid hormones, cortisol, insulin, and sex hormones, can influence metabolism, appetite, and fat storage.

Gut Health: The health of the gastrointestinal system is crucial for nutrient absorption and can influence metabolism and inflammation. An imbalanced gut microbiome, inflammation, or gut permeability may contribute to weight issues.

Nutritional Deficiencies: Inadequate intake of essential nutrients can affect metabolism and lead to cravings, overeating, or imbalances in the body's regulatory systems.

Inflammation: Chronic inflammation in the body can disrupt metabolic processes and contribute to weight struggles. Identifying and addressing sources of inflammation, such as poor dietary choices or chronic infections, is essential.

Stress and Emotional Factors: Chronic stress and emotional imbalances can lead to overeating or poor food choices. Addressing stress management, emotional well-being, and behavioral patterns is integral to a functional medicine approach.

Toxic Burden: Exposure to environmental toxins can disrupt the endocrine system and metabolic function, potentially contributing to weight challenges. Detoxification and minimizing toxic exposures may be part of the solution.

  • Allergies are often viewed in functional medicine as symptoms of underlying imbalances rather than isolated issues. The goal is to identify and address the root causes to alleviate symptoms and promote long-term health.

Several key factors in functional medicine contribute to the root cause of allergies:

Gut health: The gastrointestinal system plays a crucial role in immune function. Imbalances in the gut microbiome, such as dysbiosis or leaky gut syndrome, can contribute to an overactive immune response and the development of allergies.

Nutrient deficiencies: Inadequate levels of essential nutrients, including vitamins and minerals, can compromise the immune system's ability to regulate allergic responses. Functional medicine assesses and addresses nutritional imbalances to support immune function.

Inflammation: Chronic inflammation throughout the body can contribute to the development of allergies. Identifying and addressing sources of inflammation, such as dietary choices, environmental exposures, or chronic infections, is a key aspect of functional medicine.

Hormonal imbalances: Disruptions in hormonal balance, including imbalances in cortisol and sex hormones, can influence the immune response and contribute to allergic reactions.

Environmental exposures: Functional medicine considers external factors, such as exposure to toxins, pollutants, and allergens, which may contribute to the development or exacerbation of allergies.

Epigenetic factors: Functional medicine acknowledges the role of genetics and epigenetics in influencing how genes are expressed. Understanding an individual's genetic predispositions can provide valuable insights into their susceptibility to allergies.

  • Functional medicine seeks to identify and address the factors contributing to gastrointestinal distress, promoting optimal digestive health.

Key elements considered in the root cause of digestive issues include:

Gut microbiome imbalance: The gut is home to a complex ecosystem of microorganisms, collectively known as the gut microbiome. An imbalance in this community, known as dysbiosis, can lead to digestive problems. Functional medicine aims to assess and restore a healthy balance of beneficial bacteria.

Intestinal permeability (leaky gut): Increased permeability of the intestinal lining can allow undigested food particles, toxins, and bacteria to enter the bloodstream, triggering immune responses and contributing to digestive issues. Functional medicine addresses factors contributing to leaky gut and supports the restoration of a healthy gut barrier.

Food sensitivities and intolerances: Functional medicine recognizes that certain foods may contribute to digestive problems. Identifying and addressing food sensitivities or intolerances is an integral part of the approach, often involving elimination diets and reintroduction protocols.

Nutrient deficiencies: Insufficient absorption of nutrients from the digestive tract can lead to deficiencies that impact overall health. Functional medicine assesses nutrient status and aims to optimize absorption through dietary changes and supplementation.

Inflammation: Chronic inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract can contribute to digestive symptoms. Functional medicine identifies and addresses sources of inflammation, such as dietary choices, stress, or underlying inflammatory conditions.

Hormonal imbalances: Hormones play a role in digestive function, and imbalances can contribute to symptoms such as bloating and irregular bowel movements. Functional medicine assesses hormonal status and seeks to restore balance through lifestyle modifications and targeted interventions.

Stress and lifestyle factors: Functional medicine recognizes the impact of stress and lifestyle on digestive health. Strategies for stress management, adequate sleep, and physical activity are often integrated into treatment plans.

What is Functional Medicine?

Personalized Care: We emphasize personalized treatment plans based on the patient's unique genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. This individualized approach helps address the specific needs and imbalances of each patient.

Holistic Perspective: Functional medicine views the body as an interconnected system, where the health of one organ or system can impact others. I take into consideration you as a person, including physical, emotional, and social factors, to understand the underlying causes of health issues.

Root Cause Identification: Instead of solely focusing on alleviating symptoms, functional medicine seeks to identify and address the underlying root causes of illness. This involves investigating factors such as nutritional imbalances, stress, and environmental toxins. The goal is healing that lasts because the root causes have been addressed and changed.

Patient Empowerment: We encourage patients to take an active role in their healthcare. The patient and not the provider is in charge. By understanding the factors that contribute to their health, individuals can make informed lifestyle choices that support overall well-being and disease prevention.
